The Life of Things is a collection exhibition in which Voorlinden, together with artists, explores the stories, memories, societal developments and lives embedded in the objects around us.
The accompanying catalogue includes:
• images of all artworks and exhibition spaces
• an introduction by Barbara Bos, Head of Exhibitions, on the concept behind the exhibition: how and why have objects found their place in the art world?
• an interview with Ibrahim Mahama about his fascination about the life, humanity and soul within objects. He created the exhibition’s opening piece, Famished Road, specifically for Voorlinden
• an essay by philosopher Emanuele Coccia on why we cannot comprehend the world without objects
