Immerse yourself in the world of Anselm Kiefer with the Bilderstreit catalogue, which was released in conjunction with his solo exhibition of the same name at Voorlinden. This catalogue provides an in-depth overview of Kiefer’s monumental paintings, sculptures, artist’s books and installations, many of which had never been shown before.

In addition to images of all exhibited works and installations, the catalogue features a compelling essay by renowned art historian Rudi Fuchs. As the former director of the Van Abbemuseum, the Gemeentemuseum Den Haag, and the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, Fuchs organised Kiefer’s first exhibition in the Netherlands in 1979 and immediately recognised the artist’s groundbreaking talent.

The catalogue is bilingual: Dutch and English

Who is Anselm Kiefer?
With his unique visual language, rich in references to history, mythology, and literature, Anselm Kiefer (1945) is one of the most influential contemporary artists. He experiments with unconventional materials such as lead, bricks, and bicycles, and employs techniques including fire, sculptural additions and scraping away previous layers. For Kiefer, a work of art is never truly finished—he continues to build and transform.
