An elevator has been built into the wall of Voorlinden, but its dimensions create a rather alienating effect: only 16.5 cm wide. Yet, everything has been thought of: there's a light in the elevator, and a bar to lean against is mounted on the back wall. The small control panel is indistinguishable from the real thing. The elevators are identical to those we see in our everyday lives, only now they create a space to look at reality with a different eye. And it's precisely this specific moment that Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan (born 1960) is focused on.
