Rocket lamp

This lamp made from Meccano by Dutch designer Billy Leliveld is an object in itself and part of a series of lamps he makes by hand in his workshop in Rotterdam. Each lamp is unique and has its own number, homemade box and certificate.

About oom Jan
Rotterdam designer and art-director Billy Leliveld received a huge collection of Meccano from his uncle (‘oom’) - named Jan – in 2011. He thanked him with a hand-made Meccano lamp for his uncle’s bedside table and now continues to make lots of these lamps using these more than than 100-year-old construction toys.
